New Biggest Loser Game

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

A lot of us that have had a whole lot of fun playing the Biggest Loser memory game where we matched the different contestants before and after pictures.
Now there is a brand new Biggest Loser game and I must say that I am becoming addicted to it :0)LOL
I have surprisingly managed to handle not being able to watch the Biggest Loser tv show. A big part of the reason why not being able to see Biggest Loser all summer hasn’t been as bad as I had thought that it would be (and as bad as it usually is) is because my mind has been so totally consumed by everything that has been going on around here.
The year started off on a really bad foot and has continued to stay that way for the most part.
I was working for my cousin and found her lying in a pool of blood at the bottom of her stairs. She had fallen down her basement steps and hit her head on the cement floor.
We lost a very good friend, our cousin and my job that day.
Since then we have lost more friends and relatives, I have had health problems and we have had car trouble several times that extended into a much bigger ordeal than we had thought and hoped it would be.

On top of all of that, one of my best friend’s lost her sister just 2 days after we lost our cousin Judy (when I lost my job) and her mom died shortly after that. Her other sister just committed suicide and her nephew was the one to find her. She had hung herself.

Now I am concerned about my friend and her nephew. I am worried that this all might be too much for them. She says that she would never do that. But I still worry. She is like a sister to me and an Aunt to my son.

So, we have been trying to be supportive to help her to get through these tough times.

With all of this that has been going on I hope that you can all understand why I haven’t been blogging as much as I had planned on.

We have several blogs as you can see on our

mepage for Oaks Blogs and right now we are behind on adding new posts because of all that has been going on. We hope everyone will be understanding about it now that you know the reasons why.
So this summer has been a busy and stressful one but recently I saw a tv commercial for the Biggest Loser and since then I have been feeling the effects of having to wait so long to see BL.
So, I decided to do some looking and see what new news I could find about the Biggest Loser and guess what I found?

Yep, you guessed it- a brand new Biggest Loser game.

Seeing how things have been going around here I really was happy to find something that not only will entertain me and get my mind off of all of the sad things but also includes my favorite tv show ‘The Biggest Loser’

The only drawback is the fact that I could see myself becoming addicted to this new Biggest Loser game. When I play and do great I want to try to do better. And when I don’t get a good score then I want to play again so that I can try to get a better score.

I really like this new game. You use your knowledge about which foods are healthy and which foods are unhealthy- but don’t worry- it’s not rocket science ;0)lol

Got you interested? Want to try your hand at it and see how well you do?
You too can play the new Biggest Loser Game.

Biggest Loser Book

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Well, we knew it was bound to happen. Actually I am surprised that it hasn’t happened long before this.

Or has it?

I don’t think so, none of my research has shown that anyone from all of the Biggest Loser contestants have done it before this.

Done what- you may wonder?

Well, remember Ali Vincent the first ever female winner of the Biggest Loser?

Ali lost 112 pounds and has been able to keep it off since she won season 5 of the Biggest Loser tv show.

Ali Vincent is writing a book called ” Believe It, Be ItL How Being the Biggest Loser Won Me Back My Life”

In her new book, which is due out November 10th, Ali talks about has managed to keep off the 112 pounds that she lost.
Even though her book isn’t due out until Nov you can go ahead and pre-order it right now so that as soon as Ali’s new book is out you will get one of the first copies

Biggest Loser Pigout?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I was just reading an article that talked about how so many people do not know when they are full.

When do you know that you are full?

Is it when your plate is empty?

When the food is gone?

When everyone else is done eating?

Did you know that there are a lot of people out there that consider the start of the Biggest Loser tv show to be their signal to start pigging out?

That people gather their friends and family as well as a table full of snacks in order to pig out during the Biggest Loser?

The Biggest Loser being used for a pig out fest?

I cannot imagine. I very seldom even eat while the Biggest Loser tv show is on. And I sure the heck try to avoid eating fattening food while watching it.

I don’t know about you but it just doesn’t seem RIGHT to pig out while watching a show about losing weight and getting healthy.

I may ‘pig out’ on occasion by having a treat or maybe eating a bit more than I probably should but I sure do not use the Biggest Loser as my excuse for loading up on junk food and stuffing my face

Do people think that they will be able to watch the Biggest Loser and just lose weight automatically?

Can you absorb the results of someone else’s exercise just by watching?

Can you lose weight by simply watching the Biggest Loser tv show?

Is this what people think?

Is that what YOU think?

I know that a lot of the people reading this blog are doing so because they want to lose weight and get healthy

I myself would be ashamed to pig out during the Biggest Loser tv show. It almost seems, I don’t know….sacrilegious?

It just doesn’t feel right.

Yes the Biggest Loser is entertaining and we love to watch it for it’s entertainment value.

BUT, if you are watching it in order to try to lose weight and get healthy how can you justify pigging out while doing so?

Heck, even if you are skinny as a rail how long do you think that will last if you continue to pig out for 2 hours every week?

So, if you really want to lose weight try taking a look at your behavior while watching the show.

If you find yourself guilty of indulging too much while watching the Biggest Loser then try making some changes.

Feel the need to snack while the show is on? Try having fruit and vegetable platters at hand or reschedule your HEALTHY, LOW FAT, meal to be eaten while watching the show.

They say that you shouldn’t eat while watching tv as you are not fully enjoying your food and you are much more likely to eat many more calories than you need to but at least eating a healthy, low fat meal would be better than pigging out on high calorie junk food snacks.

Remember Phil and his wife Amy Parham on season 6 of the Biggest Loser? I know that ’evil’ Vicky was who so many were talking about but you should remember Phil and Amy as Vicky couldn’t stand Phil and made Amy cry. Remember?

Now do you remember them talking about pigging out on ice cream while watching the show?

See, a lot of people are guilty of it but you CAN change those behaviors and lose weight.

If they can do it then so can you :0)

Here are a few tips to help you .

Try to avoid eating while watching tv

When you do so then try to have healthy snacks available- fruits, vegies, fruit sorbets, popcorn (pop it yourself and you control how much butter and salt it has on it)

Drink water whenever you feel hungry as sometimes it is really thirst being confused for hunger

Really want that high calorie snack?

Try cutting the portion in half or in quarters. Try having just a quarter of half portion instead. Really want more? Wait 30 minutes. If you still want it then go ahead and have another partial portion.

When you make fattening snacks like cake or brownies the cut them into serving size portions. Have 1 and put the rest in the freezer. By having to wait it gives you time to realize that you are already full so there is no more eating the whole cake and then being depressed when you realize what you have done

Not sure how to tell when you are full? Put only normal sized servings on your plate. It you are unsure of how much this is then look it up on the side of the package or in the recipe.

Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly. They used to say to chew each bite something like 30 times before swallowing it.

Set your eating utensil down between bites.

Savor the flavor. Don’t have distractions.

Listen to your stomach. When it says you are full then stop eating

Need some help with this? Still can’t tell when you are full? Do you REALLY want to be able to watch something and be able to lose weight simply because you watched it?

Do you think that it is possible?

It IS.

If you are truly serious about losing weight and you know that nothing that you have done so far has worked then right now go over to the right and order the subliminal weight loss software.

All you need to do is have this software going in the background when you are on the computer. You retrain your brain to feel differently about food. This makes it so much easier to lose weight and get healthy. The pounds can melt off without you even realizing it. I know as this is what happened to me.

It is under $20 one time and you can use it to lose the weight and then use it as a refresher every once in a while.

If you could lose weight for under $20 one time and no starving diets or brutal exercising wouldn’t you do it?

Go over and order your software now. It installs easily and starts working immediately once you hit the start button. It even comes pre-loaded with messages and yet you can personalize it with some extra messages of your own.

Try it. You’ll be glad you did. I know I am.

Firm Up & Get Healthy

While Having FUN!!!

Hi All,

Happy Father’s Day.

As a single Mom I am both Mother and Father to my son. As such I get cards for Mother’s and Father’s Day :0) So, I usually look forward to both holidays. But, today turned out to not be a great day around here.

If any of you have been checking out some of our other blogs you probably already know that we have chickens. I won’t get into the whole story here as this blog is about the Biggest Loser tv show and about helping people to lose weight and get healthy. But, something attacked some of our ‘baby’ chickens last night and killed 5 of 7 of them. The scene this morning was horrific. We raised these from little fuzz balls an to see how they suffered has made me sick to my stomach. Not really feeling like celebrating today.

Anyway, I promised you another way to firm up and get healthy so here you go

The other day I told you about something called isometric exercises which are not only super easy to do but they work great too. The great thing is that it doesn’t cost you anything to do isometric exercises and you can do them pretty much anywhere without most people even knowing that you are exercising.

Another great exercise that you can do that will not only help you to lose weight, firm up but to also get healthy in other ways too.

This one costs a little bit but it is not too expensive and compared with all of the benefits it is well worth it.

What is it?

Rebounding.

Some of you may not know what this is. A re-bounder is simply a mini-trampoline. It doesn’t cost much, we got ours at a rummage sale in like new condition for only $10.

You can set a re-bounder up in front of your tv and use it while you watch your favorite tv show- that could be Biggest Loser once it comes back on this Fall :0)

You simply get on your rebounder and walk, run, or jump your way to health.

If your health is bad you can still get the benefits of using a rebounder by resting your feet on it while sitting in a chair and then let someone else jump on it.

This will work well for those who may be elderly, obese or just have a lot of health problems.

Before you start you should get the ok from your doctor but if your doctor doesn’t think you should do this then ask them if you just rest your feet on the mini-trampoline while someone else uses it or you just gently bounce your feet if it might be ok to try it and see if you can start helping to improve your health this way until you are able to actually get on the rebounder and use it

Using a mini-trampoline, even like this, can help get your blood circulating and help to cleanse your lymph system. Rebounding affects every organ, helps the efficiency of the lymphatic system and even the immune system.

Your lymphatic system is your defense against , viruses, infection, bacteria and even diseases.

It cleans wastes and infection from all tissues of the body and even removes the toxins we absorb from our environment.

If you suffer from a stagnant lymphatic system you could suffer from any one (or more) of these common diseases:

Obesity

Loss of energy

Low back pain

Viral infections

Arthritis

Bacterial infections

Cancer

Prostate problems

Chronic sinus problems
Eczema and other skin conditions
Loss of Energy
Fibrocystic disease
Chronic fatigue
Repetitive trouble with parasites
Multiple Sclerosis

Heart disease
Edema
Lupus
Inflammation

High Blood Pressure
Headaches
Excessive sweating

These are just some of the diseases that affect anyone that has a sluggish lymphatic system. But you don’t have to have an impaired lymphatic system as using a mini-trampoline is one of the, if not THE, best way to improve your lymph system and gain other benefits too.

You can simply start using your mini trampoline for 5-10 minutes to start and build your time up from there. It may not seem like much and it is so much fun you may not want to get off of it :0)lol but even starting for small amounts of time you can gain great health benefits.

Here is a list of how rebounding can help your body:

1. Rebounding helps your lymphatic circulation

2. Rebounding protects your joints from chronic fatigue and trauma caused by the impact caused by exercising on hard surfaces.

3. Rebounding slows down the aging process.

4. Rebounding strengthens the skeletal systems.

5. Rebounding helps to circulate more oxygen to your tissues.

6. Rebounding creates better equilibrium between the oxygen required by your tissues and the oxygen that is available.

7. Rebounding improves your digestion and elimination processes.

8. Rebounding helps your blood pressure

9. Rebounding increases your capacity for respiration.

10. Rebounding helps in the rehabilitation of a heart problem.

11. Rebounding increases the functional activity of the red bone marrow in the production of red blood cells.

12. Rebounding improves your resting metabolic rate so that you burn more calories even hours after you finish exercising.

13. Rebounding causes your muscles to work in moving fluids through your body to lighten your heart’s load.

14. Rebounding decreases the volume of blood that you may have pooling in your veins of your cardiovascular system thus preventing chronic edema.

15. Rebounding increases your circulation.

16. Rebounding strengthens your heart & muscles so that they work more efficiently.

17. Rebounding allows your resting heart to beat less often.

18. Rebounding lowers circulating cholesterol and your tri-glyceride levels.

19. Rebounding lowers the low-density bad cholesterol in the blood and increases your good cholesterol to help you to avoid coronary artery disease.

20. Rebounding helps your body in tissue repair.

21. Rebounding for more than 20 minutes at a time with a moderate intensity will increase the mitochondria count within the muscle cells, essential for endurance.

22. Rebounding adds to the alkaline reserve of the body, which may be of significance in an emergency requiring prolonged effort.

23. Rebounding allows for better relaxation and sleep which helps you to deal with stress easier.

24. Rebounding helps to improve your balance.

25. Rebounding offers real relief from neck and back pains, headaches, and other pain caused by lack of exercise.

26. Rebounding helps for fatigue & menstrual discomfort for women.

27. Rebounding improves muscle-to-fat ratio.

28. Rebounding results in better mental performance, which could help you and your family with the learning processes.

29. Rebounding helps your immune system so it minimizes the number of colds you may have as well as allergies, digestive disturbances, and abdominal problems

30. Last, but not least, Rebounding is FUN!

With all of the benefits of rebounding there is really no reason not to get started using a mini-trampoline as soon as possible.

Now, for some of you, you may be able to get a rebounder at a rummage sale like we did but for those of you that are heavier you might not be able to find one strong enough to hold you.

Keep watching here as I am in talks with a company that makes the best rebounder around. With a 300 pound weight limit which is 50-100 pounds more than any other mini-trampoline around. It also has a safety bar and is low cost. If you haven’t already done so you may want to bookmark us and keep checking back. I will let you know as soon as I am able to offer you this great item to help you to lose weight and get healthy

Hope you all have been trying the isometric exercises I already told you about. Keep at it and you will start to see results :0)

Happy Father’s Day and First Day of Summer :0)

Lose Weight & Get Healthy

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

If you need to lose weight and you have health problems then you might want to read this through to the end.

For anyone that is over-weight. and cannot move around a lot due to being so over-weight or due to health problems from their weight:

If you think that you can’t exercise- You CAN!

Even very sick people or elderly people should be able to do this.

You should check with your doctor to be on the safe side since your doctor knows your health concerns.

I am going to be telling you about 2 ways that you should be able to exercise to help you to get healthier and strengthen your muscles. I will tell you one way today and bring you the other method sometime this weekend.

Neither one of these is difficult nor is there any impact like if you are walking, running or weight training. You can do one of these exercises anywhere. Yes ANYWHERE!

It is also completely free. You can start this as soon as you read this and you can do it while watching tv, driving, at work, and people won’t even know that you are exercising.

What is this exercise?

It is called Isometric exercise.

Many of you are probably saying, “IS-O-WHAT?”

Isometric exercising is just simply tightening a muscle and holding it for

Isometrics are just “muscle” movements. This places the stress entirely on the muscle fibers. Done carefully and often, isometric (non-movement) exercises can help you to strengthen your muscles around the joints and reduce the wear and tear on them that you get with conventional exercising.

1) To start off you can just tighten your arm muscles and hold for 10 seconds. Release and relax for 10 seconds. Breathe deeply throughout. Repeats four more times and then do the other arm.

See how easy that was?

2) Tighten your chest muscles and hold for 10 seconds. Release and relax for 10 seconds. Repeat 4 more times

3) Tighten your stomach muscles and hold for 10 seconds. . Release and relax for 10 seconds. Repeat 4 more times

4) Tighten your leg and buttock muscles and hold for 10 seconds. . Release and relax for 10 seconds. Repeat 4 more times

This is one set. When you are finished with these you can repeat the whole set again. Start off small with one or two sets once or twice a week if you are in very bad health or very obese. If you are a bit healthier you can do one or two sets each day or even twice a day.

Now, if you are at home in front of the tv and you don’t have to worry about someone seeing you exercise you can also do these extra exercises for your chest , biceps and triceps.

Isometric Hand Press Exercise

While sitting upright in your chair you simply grasp your hands together in front of your chest, and firmly press them together. Make sure that you continue to breathe throughout the exercise. You should hold for 10 seconds and then relax for 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise four more times.

Another one that I like to do is what I call the

Bear Hug Exercise

Hold my arms in front of me and then bring them to the opposite side as if I am going to give myself a hug. Keeping the muscles tight I alternate with right arm above the left and then left above the right. Do this for 10 ’hugs’ Relax for 10 seconds and then repeat 4 more times

This will firm up the arms and chest (triceps, biceps and pectoral muscles). These WORK!

I believe that wearing a bra could be part of why breast cancer is so high. The pressure against the lymph glands stops them from doing their job properly- which is to cleanse the lymph fluid getting toxins out of your system.

So, I don’t wear a bra- even though I have large breasts. My Mom and a friend of mine always joked that I got enough for 2 people- course that was probably because my Mom was small breasted and my friend wears a smaller bra size than I do.

Anyway, without wearing a bra most people would have their breasts hanging down to their stomach. Mine don’t. I simply do these exercises at least once every week or so. My friend and her mother actually asked me why my breasts don’t hang down since I don’t wear a bra.

I believe that the only reason that they don’t is from these 2 exercises listed above. I also do the isometric exercises for the stomach, legs and buttocks. If these exercises work this well using them once every week or so, just imagine how well they can work if you do them more often. And they are not hard to do. There should be no gasping for air, no stress on the joints. Just be sure not to over do it when you first start as your muscles may feel sore since these are so easy you might not realize just how powerful they really are.

You should be able to go ahead and get started if you are in good health. If not, then please check with your doctor first but since there is no cost involved this is a great exercise that anyone can do. It is easy, simple, free and effective.

You might not lose a bunch of weight fast like they do on the Biggest Loser tv show by doing these but these are a simple way to start getting in better shape or as a way to exercise on days that you just don’t have time to get to the gym.

These may be little but they are MIGHTY! :0)

Like these simple exercises? Just wait until you find out what the other type of exercise is and how easy and FUN it can be :0)

Biggest Loser Gets Married

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Biggest Loser winner Michelle Aguiler , from season 6, is getting married tomorrow.

I am sure that we all remember Michelle, and her mother Renee, from season 6 on the Biggest Loser tv show?

Michelle and her mother were on the pink team that season and we were all rooting for her and her mother to go to the finale. The reason why? Most of America just loved them.

Another reason? Most of America could not stand Vicky, Brady, Heba and Ed.

The worst of them all being Vickie. I think that most Biggest Loser fans would have preferred anyone to win as long as it wasn’t Vickie.

You all made your feelings obvious by voting our polls and everywhere I went, all over Biggest Loser land on the net, your opinion of Vicky, Brady, Heba and Ed were made very clear. By far Vickie stood out as the most villainous of the group and probably could take an award for the most hated Biggest Loser contestant ever.

I am sure that most of you agree.

Anyway, through all of the meanness and drama of the villainous four Michelle and her Mom Renee (as well as some others, like Coleen ) stood out above the nastiness as some very nice people. We came to know and love them all.

The Biggest Loser season 6 finale was December 16th, 2008. Renee wasn’t there as one of the finalists but she was there for her opportunity to try for the $100,000 home prize and to support her daughter.

Our polls were showing that most of you were wanting Michelle to win the $250,000 prize and take home the coveted title of America’s Biggest Loser.

I doubt too many of us were surprised to see her win that night :0)

But many of us WERE surprised when we first heard that Michelle was engage to be married only 9 days later.

Many were concerned that her fiance, Micah Whitehead, was marrying Michelle only for her money. Some people thought that this was awful sudden.

I myself, and probably many others, wondered why he had waited until Michelle lost the weight and won the money to ask her to marry him.

If he really loved her wouldn’t he have asked her before she lost the weight so that she would know that it was HER and not her weigh (or money) that he was really after?

Then we learned that they had been dating for 4 months. Okay, four months is better than just meeting him but it still isn’t long enough to really know someone that you will (hopefully) spend the rest of your life with.

In my own case I knew my husband for years before we got engaged. We were best friends for most of those years.

And yet you never can REALLY know a person completely. You never know how someone will be when they get involved with drinking and drugs. That, and domestic violence, was what caused my divorce.

So, I am wondering, is it better to know someone longer before marriage? Or, is it better to know them a short time? Can you know someone well enough in a few months that you can think about spending your life with them?

How many of you think that Michelle is making the right decision? How many think that she is making a mistake?

No matter what we all know and love Michelle and we wish her only the best.

We wish for her all the happiness in the world on her wedding day tomorrow and all of the tomorrows to come.

Hmmm, I wonder if her bridesmaid dresses will be pink? :0)LOL

Michelle will marry Micah Whitehead in Texas tomorrow (June 14th, 2009). We all wish her the best.

Biggest Loser Contestant-Domestic Violence Charge

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Remember Biggest Loser winner Helen’s daughter Shanon? Do you remember how she was arrested December 16th, 2008 for domestic violence. She was charged with throwing flour into her tenants face.

While many of you were not thrilled with Helen and many did not like the fact that HeHelen stayed on the Biggest Loser ranch while her Daughter Shanon went home for the second time.

A lot of you thought that Helen was being selfish by not only letting her daughter go home again but the fact that she actually ‘manipulated’ Shanon into asking that she be the one to go home while her mother stayed on the Biggest Loserranch

I remember Shanon’s face when she realized that she was going to be going home. I think that she had some doubts and some regrets for volunteering to be the one to go home so that her mother could stay on the ranch.

Well, after months of not knowing what was going to happen this case went to trial and the witness never even bothered to show up.

The judge threw the case out and Shanon is now a free woman.

Life is going well for Shanon and her mother Helen.

Helen wins $250,000 and the title of Biggest Loser while Shanon’s case is thrown out and she is now free to roller derby all she wants to.

Hi Biggest Loser (and anyone looking to lose weight and gain back their health) Fans…

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Even though it is the off season for the Biggest Loser tv show I still plan on posting information to help you all to lose weight and get healthier.

I want to apologize for not having posted some information more recently. You see, my son and I were very busy getting ready for a craft show (and I have been live blogging about NBC’s new show- I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!).

Well, the craft show was yesterday and OH WHAT A DAY!

You see, we were under the impression that the craft show was to be inside- after all it is a large building.

So, we got there to find out that it was actually outside. Luckily (sort of) it was a nice day. Why do I say ‘sort of’? Well, we were not prepared to be outside from 9:30 am until 6 pm.

Normally I spend a good part of my day inside at work and here in front of the computer. When I go outside to work in the garden it is usually after 2pm when the sun isn’t so hot.

Thankfully my son is more used to being outside and so he didn’t get sunburned anywhere near as bad as I did. He got sunburned on his lower arms and that is pretty much all. Even it is starting to turn to a tan whereas my sunburn is BRIGHT RED and it hurts.

I am including a picture here for you to see.

Don't get suburned like I did

Don't get suburned like I did

Notice that I had sunglasses on? Yep, now I get to wear them all the time or walk around with white around my eyes, across my nose and on both sides of my face. Already the jokes about ‘raccoon eyes’ are flying. Josh even told me that my face is so hot that I could bake bread with my head.

I’m just thankful that he wasn’t at my side the whole day so he didn’t get burned like I did.

Anyway, this picture was taken right after we got home yesterday and it got even redder after that. Luckily I know a bit about natural healing and sunburn so I was busy with that all evening and throughout the night.

One time when I got up in the night I looked in the mirror to discover that not only was my face a darker red than it had been but it was actually swollen to the point my eyes were open not much more than slits.

I upped my vitamin C and water intake as well as applying a lot more aloe.

Today I still feel crappy but my face isn’t so swollen anymore and it is not quite the same shade of red. My arms are actually getting a little brown mixed in with the red and the red isn’t as fiery red as it was last night.

This is the absolute WORST case of sunburn that I ever have gotten in my life. 2 friends were concerned about sun poisoning, as was I, so I have increased my water and vitamin C intake to the point that I needed to use the bathroom about every hour during the night and spent this awake time as time to drink more water and take more vitamin C as well as apply more aloe.

GAWD, even my lips are sunburned- which I have never had happen before.

At least I am getting better. If I hadn’t have started feeling better I would have had to go to the hospital. Which is why I am starting a blog about natural remedies for sunburn. I will be telling what all I did to help for my bad case of sun burn and what others also recommend. Keep checking out my new sunburn blog to see my progress through pics and video.

Hopefully you all will learn a lesson at my expense and be better prepared than I was. I should have thought to ask if the craft show was inside or out. I took it for granted that the person running the show would have told me if it were to be outside.

So, when you plan to be gone for the day be prepared for ANYTHING! I wish I had been. I had all sorts of things in the car in case we needed them but not what wes needed to be out in the bright sun all day.

BTW, in case you didn’t know it- Mike Morelli was chosen to be a diets in review correspondent and will provide video episodic recaps throughout season 8 just as Coleen from season 6 Biggest Loser has done throughout season 7.

For those of us who loved Mike it gives us a chance to continue to see him and see how he is doing. Many of you will be happy about that :0)

Well, I am off to watch some of the Biggest Loser auditions and relax for a while.

Later :0)

Biggest Loser Trainer Called “Fat” What is the World Coming to?

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Last night I was tired when I posted about someone calling Jillian fat. Today I would like to talk a bit more about that incident.

But first-

Like many of you, I have been skinny and I have been fat and everywhere in between in my life. I was a little chubby when I was little. Back then they called it ‘baby fat’. When I hit my pre-teens I lost my ‘baby fat’ and was a normal weight for a time. Then I hit my teens and started to want to look like the models and famous actresses that were so thin.

I started to diet and exercise. I ate 1 sandwich a day with 1 slice of meat and 2 pieces of bread. I found out that dill pickles only have 5 calories each so I ate LOTS of dill pickles.

I exercised almost constantly when I was home.

When I was on the phone- I exercised.

When I watched tv- I exercised.

I lost weight. I got skinny.

And yet I still wasn’t happy and thought that I needed to lose more. My Mom was only 5 foot 2 inches tall and I am 5 foot 8 inches tall. Yet I lost enough weight that I could wear my Mom’s clothes. My bones stuck out and sitting was no longer comfortable so I kept moving more.

I didn’t know it then but I found out years later that my Mom was worried about me.

Back then we didn’t know about anorexia and bulemia like we do now.

Part of the problem that started that whole ball rolling was that the boyfriend that I had at that time told me I was fat. He continued to do so until my bones stuck out so bad that he couldn’t stand to have me sit on his lap.

When he complained about my bones sticking out then I realized that I was too thin.

Luckily I was able to start eating more normal and after a time I was back to being a normal weight and was fairly happy and healthy.

I was always the thin one of most of my friends- even at my normal weight. Who would have guessed that I would one day be ‘fat’?

I was in my early 20’s when I fell hard on cement and damaged my knee caps severely. I didn’t think that I would even be able to stand and for a long time just walking was a chore and very painful.

I iced my knees and did my exercises that they knee specialist recommended. Still, it took a long time for them to heal where I could walk without aid.

I believed for a long time that I would never run or dance again. I felt that I would be lucky if I was able to just walk normal again.

During that time I started gaining weight. I wasn’t able to move around much and when I did it was very difficult and painful. I became depressed. So I ate.

Eating was something that I COULD do without any problem.

I became chunky again but this time it wasn’t ‘baby fat’. I didn’t like it but there were people a lot bigger than me so I convinced myself that I was ok.

Then one day we went out to eat at a local fast food restaurant. I didn’t have a lot of food, just a sandwich, French fries and a drink. Yet I remember a young guy mooing at me. Seriously he mooed. And there were even at that time people a LOT bigger than I was. I don’t understand why he picked me to do that to but I was horrified, I was embarrassed beyond belief.

After that I didn’t want to go anywhere for a long time. I seldom left the house and I started wearing black all the time.

I had read that black is slimming and I thought that it would help me to look thinner.

It also was easier to color co-ordinate my clothes.

So this was my life for a time.

Then I had my son. He was 2 months premature. I had spent weeks in bed at home because of spotting and after suffering 2 miscarriages I did not want to lose my baby and would do whatever necessary to be sure that he would be ok.

At Christmastime I was finally able to get up and about a little bit. I still had to be careful but I managed to go in the stores a couple of times to pick out Christmas gifts.

Then in January I started leaking amniotic fluid and had to be rushed to the hospital.

That first night was HORRIBLE!!!

I was so worried about my baby and because they were concerned about emergency childbirth and the possibility of an emergency c-section they had me on this hard thing all night. It was almost impossible to get to sleep between being so uncomfortable, the worrying and the moniter they had strapped around me to keep track of my baby.

Every time I would finally doze off I would bump the wires and an alarm would go off. The nurse would have to keep coming in and fix it.

I was also hungry as I hadn’t had anything to eat all day in case they had to do emergency surgery.

We got through the night ok and managed to spend the next 6 weeks in there leaking amniotic fluid the whole time. I could get up to use the bathroom and a shower but that was it.

I went through 12 roommates while I was in there and if I hadn’t of had my son when I did I would have had roommate number 13 the day that Josh was born.

Because of how early he was he had to stay in the hospital for weeks and with all of the running back and forth I quickly lost all of the pregnancy weight that I had gained, and then some.

I wasn’t skinny but I wasn’t so overweight any more either.

Then my husband began to drink and use drugs. Domestic violence is a HORRIBLE thing and no one should have to live like that.

During this time I lost weight again. A LOT of weight and though I wasn’t skinny I was at a pretty much normal weight again for the first time in a long time but what a way to do it?!

My husband refused to admit that he had a problem and get help. I refused for Josh and I to live like that and despite all of the death threats and the fear that he actually WOULD kill us, I divorced him.

Being a single Mom is not what I had planned for in my life but we have gotten through and living as a single parent is much preferable to having the person that professed to love us refuse us food, medical care and threatening to kill us.

Luckily Josh was little but what memories he has of his father are not good ones but he is a happy, well adjusted person now and I have done my best to be both Mother and Father to him. I have also tried to put positive male role models in his life. NO NOT by dating! Make relatives and friends of the family.

Anyway, so I went through a period of time where I was of a normal weight and then…. my Mom died. My Mother was both Mother and Father to me as my Dad died in a car accident when I was a baby. I never felt that I missed out as she was always there and we were close. Mom was not only my Mother but my best friend. Losing her was one of the worst times of my life.

I became depressed. But I knew that I needed to be here for Josh and so I pushed through. I also started to eat more to shove down those emotions.

I gained weight.

Thus began a period of 10 years of losing loved one after loved one. I cannot tell you how many people we have lost in the last 10 years due to cancer, old age and accidents because to sit here and think about it would be just too depressing.

We are still dealing with the lose and pain of finding our cousin dead in a pool of blood. She had fallen down her basement stairs and hot her head on the cement floor at the bottom.

To find her like that and to lose not only our cousin but one of our best friends AND my job all at once was another one of the worst times in my life. I have gone through a LOT of bad things in my life and yet I keep going- without using alcohol or drugs as they don’t help your problems they just make things worse

From all of the stress and just the toll of living my life and pollutions and such- I ended up with 2 lung diseases and other health problems/

With all of my health problems- my back, my knees, my hands, my lungs and more- I couldn’t do all of the things that I used to do. There have been times that I could barely move.

There was another problem. Eating to shove down emotions and yet unable to move enough to burn even a portion of those calories.

I got to the heaviest weight I have even been in my life. I quit getting on the scales a long time ago because I didn’t like what I saw.

Then last year I discovered a combination of 2 things that had me losing weight so easily that I didn’t even realize that I was. I was just concentrating on getting healthy.

By the time my weight loss was brought to my attention my clothes literally hung on me. My son tells me they look like clown clothes on me.

After several months of using my method I quit it order to test it to see if I would have lasting results, or if like so many other weight loss methods the weight would come right back.

It has been over 6 months and the weight seems to be staying off.

I know now that if I would start to gain the weight back I can just use my method again.

I want to lose some more weight but for the sake of testing my method I am waiting a while longer.

But, for the first time in a long time I do not worry about my weight. I concentrate on making a better life for Josh and I and on us just being the healthiest that we can- which is why we are busy trying to enlarge our garden to try to grow most of our own food, We have chickens and are thinking of raising rabbits, turkeys and maybe some mini cattle as well as anything else that will help us to be more self sufficient.

We want to put a house roof over our trailer as it keeps wanting to leak and we have used roof coating but we have a couple of cats that like to get up there and when they do it sounds like a herd of cattle. All of that weight makes the metal buckle and get cracks. Also, I have to go up every winter and shovel snow off and with my health I will not be able to do that for too much more.

We would also like to have a greenhouse to grow food year round and a storm shelter/root cellar to store food in and to go in case of a storm as you know that trailers are not a good place to be during storms.

Anyway, sorry about getting of track there. My point was that we all tend to believe that we should be model thin. That’s not true nor is it healthy.

We should all strive to find a weight that is healthy for us and then just concern ourselves more with eating healthy and BEING healthy instead of wanting our cheek bones to stick out and to be so thin that we disappear when we turn sideways.

Calling Jillian fat is simply the mentality that so many are in anymore. We think that anyone that weighs more than the models do is overweight or ‘fat’

That’s not true and it isn’t right.

Let’s all worry more about our own business, being healthy and helping our fellow human beings.

To the person that called Jillian ‘fat’? You need to work on your image of what a woman should look like. If you think that Jillian is overweight then you have some issues you need to deal with.

You may be thin now but one day you might not be. One day you may not have your looks, your youth, health or your hair. When that happens I am sure that there will be someone just like you are now that will be quick to point it out and at that time maybe you will realize how many people you have hurt by your harsh words and inappropriate attitude toward women

You also do not know what got them overweight in the first place. It may be health reasons or some emotional one. I do not believe that most people that are overweight got there just because of laziness.

So before you put someone down because of their weight you might want to think about what got them there and how easy it might be for YOU to be where they are.

‘But for the grace of God go I’

Well, that’s enough of my rant for today :0)lol
