Biggest Loser Season 13 week 3

Friday, January 20th, 2012

Ok, so Joe wanted to go home. I understand that they miss their families. At least Jeremy has his head on straight and tried to talk him out of it

Did you know that there are 41,000 chinese restaraunts in the Us? That’s more than McDonald’s, Wendys and Burger King combined? WOW! I had no clue.

Ok, so here we go with a temptation.

Everything looked so good. I can’t imagine being in the room seeing and smelling that food.

Do you feel that an obese person is like an alcoholic? Do you think that they can never eat high calorie foods again or will fall right back into that whole way of eating? Do you think that they only need worry while losing the weight and then should be able to cheat on occasion without too much concern? Or do you think it was ok to eat to win the temptation?

I was surprised that no one on the red team seemed to be tempted

Good thinking on the black team’s part. A 30 calorie fortune cookie wouldn’t do a lot of damage and yet would have a chance of giving them control over the face-off and the 2 pound advantage

Cassandra seemed really happy about winning and she sure didn’t waste any time in picking out who would face off against whom.

Black (weight loss- %) lbs lost vs   Red =who won & their weight loss

Emily   (  14lbs-5.30 %)              and   Roy (19 lbs-6.21%)

Jeremy  (    lbs-5.14 %)               and   Lauren (    lbs-5.28 %)

Joe          (    lbs- 6.44 %)            and   Nancy (    lbs-4.61 %)= Nancy with just 2 lbs

Chism     (    lbs-5.54  %)            and  Kim ( 16   lbs-6.35 %)

Mark    ( 17 lbs-5.84 %)              and  Chris    (    lbs- 5.83 %)

Megan  (    lbs-4.25 %)                and  Buddy    ( 31 lbs-7.69 %)

Gayle    (    lbs-4.35 %)                and  Kimmy     (    lbs- 5.94 %)

Cassandra      (    lbs-    %)

What do you think of Joe leaving like that? He did leave his team in the lurch and make it that much harder for his team to win the weigh-in.

Yes, he misses his family but is his going home now going to cost them extra years that they might have had?

And when you think about how much the aqua team wants to be there and we have had 2 people leave voluntarily already in week 3?

That’s crazy!

How funny: Bob saying “I knew I’d get that old woman to cuss”

Well, that’s all I have time for today. I wasn’t sure that I would even post what with my Uncle dying but I decided to at least post some. I will try to finish it on Saturday so that we will be all caught up for next week’s Biggest Loser-K?

In the meantime here is something gross.

Take a look:

Click the pic for more info but basically this is processed chicken which is the entire chicken- including the eyeballs which is used in nuggets and processed chicken patties, etc. I am so sick to my stomach over this- EEEEWWWW! YUCK!

Now, from my research it DOES say that they have been doing this sinch the late 1960’s which means that we have probably all ate it and didn’t even know it.

It can be found in things like chicken nuggest, processed chicken patties, hot dogs, bologna, salami, etc.

I also know that we probably all know in that eating these things isn’t healthy anyway but when you are on a low income sometimes they are about the only meat you can afford to eat.

My son and I had just eaten hot dogs days before I read this article and saw this pic. Last night we had hot dogs again- because they are cheap. BUT, I couldn’t eat the same brand I ate the last time we had hot dogs- even though they were on sale for $1 for a package. We ended up getting some that were a manager’s discount for $2 because they were beef. Beef is not processed in this way in the US due to mad cow disease.

I do not know how each individual country processes their meat so if this interests you (or disgusts you) you may want to look into that. I know that we have visitors from all over the world (thank you so much for that :-) we REALLY appreciate it!) and I would LOVE to be able to tell you all how the meat is processed in YOUR country. BUT, with my Uncle dying and time constraints I just cannot do so at this time.

I AM however trying to find time (hopefully this week yet) to see about getting a petition going to change this process. I do not see why they cannot remove the heads and the internals before processing the meat this way so that we are not getting the disgusting parts in there that some of us (Me included) cannot stomach the idea of eating- even if we already HAVE and just didn’t know it.

I know it may sound silly to some of you that I cannot eat the exact same thing that I ate just a week or two ago but the idea that there are ground up eyeballs and guts (including the bowel) in that meat is just something I can’t stomach.

I am hoping that many of you would be willing to sign a petition to get this policy changed.

I think that having people to clean the chickens before processing would save not having to use unneccessary chemicals that could be causing health issues for many of us and must be costing them money. Use that money to pay people to clean the chickens= healthier meat and more jobs.

They can always use the parts removed for animal feed like they have done for years. The animals won’t know the difference and they eat these parts when they hunt anyway. Also, the price of cat and dog food has risen dramatically in recent years. I wonder how much of this is because of people insisting that the anials get ‘choice’ cuts of meat. My belief is that this has caused the price of not only dog and cat food to rise but our food as well. Only so many animals can be grown in a given year and yet it needs to feed us all. And why shoud WE as humans be forced to eat these parts, if we don’t want to, simply because we cannot afford anything better?

I know that some of you will disagree with me. That’s ok. You can still come here and enjoy My Biggest Loser Blog. As you can see from past posts I very rarely rant about anything other than the Biggest Loser on here. So if you don’t agree about my views on the meat processin you can skip over it and get to what you really want to read. I most likely will only post if and when I get the petition done and a possible update here and there.

As for Biggest Loser? I cannot wait for tonight’s show. It comes on in just over an hour so I am heading home so I will not miss even a teensy weensy second of it like we did a couple of weeks ago due to there being a bad storm. We missed 20 minutes of it-UGH!!! The HORROR!

I am finally recovering though due to the fact that I was finally able to see what we had missed -ahhhhh! The relief! :-))

Enjoy Biggest Loser tonight and I will be talking with you soon.

Hug your loved ones as you never know just how much time you have left with them :-)

Biggest Loser Season 8

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Hi All,

First of all I would like to apologize for not having blogged about Biggest Loser in so long. I had every intention of doing wonderful posts about Biggest Loser all summer and I couldn’t wait for the new season to start so I could blog about that.

Well, the best laid plans…. :0(

You see, I had all of these plans but God had other ones for me I guess.

This year has been one of the worst years we have had since my Mom died.

2009 started off badly and it has continued to be that way.

As I mentioned before we found our cousin in a pool of blood dead earlier this year. My friend’s sister died 2 days later. Her mother died shortly after that and then her other sister hung herself last month.

We have lost numerous relatives and family friends this year. I lost my job, gained a new one, have had a lot of health issues and the stress has been unbelievable.

I was hoping that I would make enough money online that I wouldn’t have to work outside the home due to my health issues but that has not been the case. I have taken on some part time jobs that have irritated my health issues but I have been thankful to have what money we have had. Though living on less than $10,000 a year is not easy by a long shot.

Ok, anyway. Enough about all of that. I just wanted you to understand why I haven’t been blogging on here like I had planned. It has been a heck of a year.

But, on to the Biggest Loser…

I CANNOT believe tonight’s show. What is up with Tracey???

I am in shock that she thought that 2 pounds was worth not being trained by Bob and Jillian and I do not believe it was fair of her to take it upon herself to choose that and take away the training from her teammate like that.

Then she got control of the game and almost literally threw everyone under the bus.

THEN when we wanted her to go home so bad that we could practically taste it she puts her team in first place putting 2 other teams in the hot seat.

She lied to people and backstabbed and from the previews for next week she doesn’t seem to ‘get it’

Do we have another ‘Vickey’ on our hands here or what? Hmmmm….

I want to applaud Dan for going to bat for Shay and I REALLY must say that I cried like a baby when Antoine and Sean sacrificed themselves for Shay like that.

I had a feeling that they would but I still was amazed that they actually did it. How humbling that even though they wanted to be there they put Shay, and her health, before their own wants

We saw a lot of emotions on the show tonight which is nothing new for Biggest Loser but it sure did bring out the emotions here. Tracey’s behavior has not won her any fans in this home.

Antoine and Sean should be praised for their sacrifice. You two are AMAZING! It was so wonderful to see the results that you both have had at home. WOW! Over 100 pounds each!!!

Shay? We are so glad that you and Dan will be able to stay on Biggest Loser. I know that you have had a hard life but PLEASE Do NOT Give Up!!! You ARE Worth fighting for. You DESERVE to be happy!!! And last but not least…. You CAN Do This!

Many of us have had hard lives. Josh and I have been through Hell and back. A strong person gets back up and brushes them-self off. For all you have been through You ARE a STRONG Person! Don’t give up now. Wonderful things are just ahead for you if you don’t give up.

As always, Biggest Loser has made me laugh, it has made me cry, I have rejoiced in the progress being made and I have been angry by the behavior of one contestant who needs to stop playing the ’game’ and realize why she is there- to lose weight and to deal with the issues that got her there in the first place.

Yes Tracey lost 11 pounds this week- I don’t know how. Even Tracy didn’t know how. That kind of weight loss won’t continue and it won’t last until she deals with the issues that got her obese in the first place and why she behaves the way that she does.

Can’t wait till next week to see what will happen next

I will try to be better about blogging about Biggest Loser each week. Just please understand that if I don’t it is because of all the chaos in my life right now. Earning enough money to pay the bills, buy food and to have heat during the upcoming Michigan winter is top priority right now.

Donations or your purchasing any Biggest Loser items you see listed on this blog would be greatly appreciated and would help to take the pressure off.

Hope you all are well?

How are your weight loss goals coming?

Whatever happens don’t give up trying to lose the weight….

You CAN Do It!!!

New Biggest Loser Game

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

A lot of us that have had a whole lot of fun playing the Biggest Loser memory game where we matched the different contestants before and after pictures.
Now there is a brand new Biggest Loser game and I must say that I am becoming addicted to it :0)LOL
I have surprisingly managed to handle not being able to watch the Biggest Loser tv show. A big part of the reason why not being able to see Biggest Loser all summer hasn’t been as bad as I had thought that it would be (and as bad as it usually is) is because my mind has been so totally consumed by everything that has been going on around here.
The year started off on a really bad foot and has continued to stay that way for the most part.
I was working for my cousin and found her lying in a pool of blood at the bottom of her stairs. She had fallen down her basement steps and hit her head on the cement floor.
We lost a very good friend, our cousin and my job that day.
Since then we have lost more friends and relatives, I have had health problems and we have had car trouble several times that extended into a much bigger ordeal than we had thought and hoped it would be.

On top of all of that, one of my best friend’s lost her sister just 2 days after we lost our cousin Judy (when I lost my job) and her mom died shortly after that. Her other sister just committed suicide and her nephew was the one to find her. She had hung herself.

Now I am concerned about my friend and her nephew. I am worried that this all might be too much for them. She says that she would never do that. But I still worry. She is like a sister to me and an Aunt to my son.

So, we have been trying to be supportive to help her to get through these tough times.

With all of this that has been going on I hope that you can all understand why I haven’t been blogging as much as I had planned on.

We have several blogs as you can see on our

mepage for Oaks Blogs and right now we are behind on adding new posts because of all that has been going on. We hope everyone will be understanding about it now that you know the reasons why.
So this summer has been a busy and stressful one but recently I saw a tv commercial for the Biggest Loser and since then I have been feeling the effects of having to wait so long to see BL.
So, I decided to do some looking and see what new news I could find about the Biggest Loser and guess what I found?

Yep, you guessed it- a brand new Biggest Loser game.

Seeing how things have been going around here I really was happy to find something that not only will entertain me and get my mind off of all of the sad things but also includes my favorite tv show ‘The Biggest Loser’

The only drawback is the fact that I could see myself becoming addicted to this new Biggest Loser game. When I play and do great I want to try to do better. And when I don’t get a good score then I want to play again so that I can try to get a better score.

I really like this new game. You use your knowledge about which foods are healthy and which foods are unhealthy- but don’t worry- it’s not rocket science ;0)lol

Got you interested? Want to try your hand at it and see how well you do?
You too can play the new Biggest Loser Game.

Biggest Loser Pigout?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I was just reading an article that talked about how so many people do not know when they are full.

When do you know that you are full?

Is it when your plate is empty?

When the food is gone?

When everyone else is done eating?

Did you know that there are a lot of people out there that consider the start of the Biggest Loser tv show to be their signal to start pigging out?

That people gather their friends and family as well as a table full of snacks in order to pig out during the Biggest Loser?

The Biggest Loser being used for a pig out fest?

I cannot imagine. I very seldom even eat while the Biggest Loser tv show is on. And I sure the heck try to avoid eating fattening food while watching it.

I don’t know about you but it just doesn’t seem RIGHT to pig out while watching a show about losing weight and getting healthy.

I may ‘pig out’ on occasion by having a treat or maybe eating a bit more than I probably should but I sure do not use the Biggest Loser as my excuse for loading up on junk food and stuffing my face

Do people think that they will be able to watch the Biggest Loser and just lose weight automatically?

Can you absorb the results of someone else’s exercise just by watching?

Can you lose weight by simply watching the Biggest Loser tv show?

Is this what people think?

Is that what YOU think?

I know that a lot of the people reading this blog are doing so because they want to lose weight and get healthy

I myself would be ashamed to pig out during the Biggest Loser tv show. It almost seems, I don’t know….sacrilegious?

It just doesn’t feel right.

Yes the Biggest Loser is entertaining and we love to watch it for it’s entertainment value.

BUT, if you are watching it in order to try to lose weight and get healthy how can you justify pigging out while doing so?

Heck, even if you are skinny as a rail how long do you think that will last if you continue to pig out for 2 hours every week?

So, if you really want to lose weight try taking a look at your behavior while watching the show.

If you find yourself guilty of indulging too much while watching the Biggest Loser then try making some changes.

Feel the need to snack while the show is on? Try having fruit and vegetable platters at hand or reschedule your HEALTHY, LOW FAT, meal to be eaten while watching the show.

They say that you shouldn’t eat while watching tv as you are not fully enjoying your food and you are much more likely to eat many more calories than you need to but at least eating a healthy, low fat meal would be better than pigging out on high calorie junk food snacks.

Remember Phil and his wife Amy Parham on season 6 of the Biggest Loser? I know that ’evil’ Vicky was who so many were talking about but you should remember Phil and Amy as Vicky couldn’t stand Phil and made Amy cry. Remember?

Now do you remember them talking about pigging out on ice cream while watching the show?

See, a lot of people are guilty of it but you CAN change those behaviors and lose weight.

If they can do it then so can you :0)

Here are a few tips to help you .

Try to avoid eating while watching tv

When you do so then try to have healthy snacks available- fruits, vegies, fruit sorbets, popcorn (pop it yourself and you control how much butter and salt it has on it)

Drink water whenever you feel hungry as sometimes it is really thirst being confused for hunger

Really want that high calorie snack?

Try cutting the portion in half or in quarters. Try having just a quarter of half portion instead. Really want more? Wait 30 minutes. If you still want it then go ahead and have another partial portion.

When you make fattening snacks like cake or brownies the cut them into serving size portions. Have 1 and put the rest in the freezer. By having to wait it gives you time to realize that you are already full so there is no more eating the whole cake and then being depressed when you realize what you have done

Not sure how to tell when you are full? Put only normal sized servings on your plate. It you are unsure of how much this is then look it up on the side of the package or in the recipe.

Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly. They used to say to chew each bite something like 30 times before swallowing it.

Set your eating utensil down between bites.

Savor the flavor. Don’t have distractions.

Listen to your stomach. When it says you are full then stop eating

Need some help with this? Still can’t tell when you are full? Do you REALLY want to be able to watch something and be able to lose weight simply because you watched it?

Do you think that it is possible?

It IS.

If you are truly serious about losing weight and you know that nothing that you have done so far has worked then right now go over to the right and order the subliminal weight loss software.

All you need to do is have this software going in the background when you are on the computer. You retrain your brain to feel differently about food. This makes it so much easier to lose weight and get healthy. The pounds can melt off without you even realizing it. I know as this is what happened to me.

It is under $20 one time and you can use it to lose the weight and then use it as a refresher every once in a while.

If you could lose weight for under $20 one time and no starving diets or brutal exercising wouldn’t you do it?

Go over and order your software now. It installs easily and starts working immediately once you hit the start button. It even comes pre-loaded with messages and yet you can personalize it with some extra messages of your own.

Try it. You’ll be glad you did. I know I am.

Recipe for Disaster-Unhealthy Kids Foods

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

If you have kids you know that they can be very adamant about what they like and what they want to eat.

As adults we don’t always eat the healthiest foods- as is witnessed by obesity and rampant disease throughout not only the USA but all over the world. We need to be more aware of what foods are healthy and which foods are unhealthy. And it is never more important than when it comes to our children

The food choices that we make are never more important than when it comes to kids.

Bad food choices are bad enough for adults but kids being so much smaller these bad choices can add up even more quickly.

IMHO toxins in our kids foods can build up to unhealthy levels more quickly than in children.

Do you realize that there are kids foods that your child should not be eating?

For instance, take tv dinners. They are a popular fast food that many parents choose because they are quick and easy. You may keep your freezer stocked up with them for times when you don’t have time to cook a meal or when your child is home alone while you work as they can pop them into the microwave and have a ‘home cooked’ meal in minutes.

But do you realize the amounts of sodium and other items that are excessive and could be very unhealthy? (This applies not just for your kids but you too)

I am not saying that you should throw out all of the tv dinners that you have in your freezer as that would be wasteful. But, be aware and try to make healthier choices from now on.

Even within brands you will find that certain meals have a lot more sodium than others. Try to lean towards the lower sodium/lower fat meals

Even a popular tv dinner that is geared towards children is guilty of the same thing so do not just think that it is for children and should be healthy. Take a few minutes and look at the nutrition chart and the ingredients.

How about crackers? They are a quick and easy snack that is popular not only with kids but adults too.

There is a popular name brand cracker that is geared towards children and yet the sodium levels in these crackers is very high.

A better choice? Graham crackers. They were popular when I was a child and I gave them to my son as a treat too. I am talking about plain old fashioned graham crackers. The popular new ones with all of that sugar and cinnamon on them has a LOT of sugar so feed them to your child accordingly. One of them once in a while would be fine but not large amounts of them.

Many parents think that fruit rollups are a good healthy snack for kids to get their vitamins.

Many of the fruit rollups that are geared towards kids are actually high in sugar. Check brands and compare. Better yet? Give your child the real thing. An apple, grapes or other fruit is fast food too and is high in vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Keeping fruits and vegetables washed, cored and ready to eat in containers in your refrigerator makes it easy for kids (and YOU) to snack on them instead of junk food. A container (or baggie) of apple slices with a small container of peanut butter makes for a healthier snack ,or meal, choice.

Fruit drinks

taste great and kids love them. The bad thing? They can be full of sugars, artificial colors and preservatives.

Better? Get your kids to drink real fruit juice. Want to send some for your child to drink with their lunch? Afraid of it spoiling? Freeze some in a bottle and put in with their meal in the morning. This helps keep other items cold and will be thawed for lunch time ready to drink.

Prepackaged lunch trays

are a common item for kids. They are already packaged and so are an easy to take meal for your child. But, these items can be high in sodium and other items such as preservatives.

If you feel you need to buy these for your children then at least compare labels and compare ‘meals’ within each label for the best choice.

The best choice would be for you to get your child an insulated lunch bag with a water bottle or thermos. You can freeze bottles of real fruit juice or milk ( even chocolate) and send sandwiches, fruit and prepared vegetables all ready to eat. These are fast and easy too but are full of good nutrition that will help your child to stay healthy, build strong bones and feed their brains so that they do better in school.

Soup

is healthy-USUALLY. Yet again, you need to be checking labels for ingredients and nutrition. Soups that are geared for children do not necessarily mean that they are healthy for kids.

Better yet? Homemade soup. It is not difficult. Anyone can make it and it will be full of good nutrition without all of the sodium and preservatives.

Don’t have time? Make large batches and freeze them in individual servings. Use a slow cooker so that your home made meal can be thrown together the night before and sat in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning just get your soup, or meal, going on your slow cooker. When you and your family come home you will have a good for you home cooked meal that was fast and easy.

Many people have switched from candy bars to granola bars as a healthier snack. BUT, some granola bars are full of bad ingredients too. As with everything else- check your labels.

Another healthier option might be to make your own granola bars so that you control what goes in them. Too hard? No they’re not.

Macaroni and cheese

is a huge favorite among kids and adults alike. Some popular brands are geared more towards kids with fun shapes and yet they are high in sodium.

I am starting to feel like a broken record…..uhhhhh…scratched cd :0)LOL

Check your labels people.

A better choice? Home made macaroni and cheese. Use whole grain pasta with low fat cheese and milk. This is easy to make. You can freeze small portions for individual servings to be heated later so making a large batch once every 2-4 weeks takes no more time than making enough for 1 meal and you will be all set for weeks.

Waffles

make for a fast easy breakfast and yet some of the prepackaged waffles you buy may not be the best choice due to high sodium and high sugar content.

Do you ever make home made waffles? When you do just make a double or triple batch and put the extra in the freezer for warming in the toaster in minutes for a ‘home made’ breakfast.

Cereal

? Kids cereals are full of sugar and sodium. Start your kids on the path to good nutrition by starting them early on whole grains. Too late? Try getting them to eat a mixture of whole grain cereal an kids cereal. Slowly increase the whole grain cereal and decrease the kid cereal.

I did this with my son and he likes to eat bran cereal, raisin bran and other healthy cereals

Lunchmeat

? Clearly all lunchmeats are not created equal. Check your labels and be aware that it is much better when you are able to to cook extra meat when you make your meals. Make sandwiches out of the extra. Or, make your own lunchmeat. It is not as hard as you might think and you can control how much salt goes into it, avoid preservatives and unhealthy amounts of fat.

I have told you about many choices that you can make to feed you and your family healthier food. Some of them you would be better off preparing at home. Think that it is too hard to make these items at home? Keep your eyes open as I am going to be bringing you an ebook that will give you the tools you need to make healthier foods for your family fast and easy.

Biggest Loser Trainer Called “Fat” What is the World Coming to?

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Last night I was tired when I posted about someone calling Jillian fat. Today I would like to talk a bit more about that incident.

But first-

Like many of you, I have been skinny and I have been fat and everywhere in between in my life. I was a little chubby when I was little. Back then they called it ‘baby fat’. When I hit my pre-teens I lost my ‘baby fat’ and was a normal weight for a time. Then I hit my teens and started to want to look like the models and famous actresses that were so thin.

I started to diet and exercise. I ate 1 sandwich a day with 1 slice of meat and 2 pieces of bread. I found out that dill pickles only have 5 calories each so I ate LOTS of dill pickles.

I exercised almost constantly when I was home.

When I was on the phone- I exercised.

When I watched tv- I exercised.

I lost weight. I got skinny.

And yet I still wasn’t happy and thought that I needed to lose more. My Mom was only 5 foot 2 inches tall and I am 5 foot 8 inches tall. Yet I lost enough weight that I could wear my Mom’s clothes. My bones stuck out and sitting was no longer comfortable so I kept moving more.

I didn’t know it then but I found out years later that my Mom was worried about me.

Back then we didn’t know about anorexia and bulemia like we do now.

Part of the problem that started that whole ball rolling was that the boyfriend that I had at that time told me I was fat. He continued to do so until my bones stuck out so bad that he couldn’t stand to have me sit on his lap.

When he complained about my bones sticking out then I realized that I was too thin.

Luckily I was able to start eating more normal and after a time I was back to being a normal weight and was fairly happy and healthy.

I was always the thin one of most of my friends- even at my normal weight. Who would have guessed that I would one day be ‘fat’?

I was in my early 20’s when I fell hard on cement and damaged my knee caps severely. I didn’t think that I would even be able to stand and for a long time just walking was a chore and very painful.

I iced my knees and did my exercises that they knee specialist recommended. Still, it took a long time for them to heal where I could walk without aid.

I believed for a long time that I would never run or dance again. I felt that I would be lucky if I was able to just walk normal again.

During that time I started gaining weight. I wasn’t able to move around much and when I did it was very difficult and painful. I became depressed. So I ate.

Eating was something that I COULD do without any problem.

I became chunky again but this time it wasn’t ‘baby fat’. I didn’t like it but there were people a lot bigger than me so I convinced myself that I was ok.

Then one day we went out to eat at a local fast food restaurant. I didn’t have a lot of food, just a sandwich, French fries and a drink. Yet I remember a young guy mooing at me. Seriously he mooed. And there were even at that time people a LOT bigger than I was. I don’t understand why he picked me to do that to but I was horrified, I was embarrassed beyond belief.

After that I didn’t want to go anywhere for a long time. I seldom left the house and I started wearing black all the time.

I had read that black is slimming and I thought that it would help me to look thinner.

It also was easier to color co-ordinate my clothes.

So this was my life for a time.

Then I had my son. He was 2 months premature. I had spent weeks in bed at home because of spotting and after suffering 2 miscarriages I did not want to lose my baby and would do whatever necessary to be sure that he would be ok.

At Christmastime I was finally able to get up and about a little bit. I still had to be careful but I managed to go in the stores a couple of times to pick out Christmas gifts.

Then in January I started leaking amniotic fluid and had to be rushed to the hospital.

That first night was HORRIBLE!!!

I was so worried about my baby and because they were concerned about emergency childbirth and the possibility of an emergency c-section they had me on this hard thing all night. It was almost impossible to get to sleep between being so uncomfortable, the worrying and the moniter they had strapped around me to keep track of my baby.

Every time I would finally doze off I would bump the wires and an alarm would go off. The nurse would have to keep coming in and fix it.

I was also hungry as I hadn’t had anything to eat all day in case they had to do emergency surgery.

We got through the night ok and managed to spend the next 6 weeks in there leaking amniotic fluid the whole time. I could get up to use the bathroom and a shower but that was it.

I went through 12 roommates while I was in there and if I hadn’t of had my son when I did I would have had roommate number 13 the day that Josh was born.

Because of how early he was he had to stay in the hospital for weeks and with all of the running back and forth I quickly lost all of the pregnancy weight that I had gained, and then some.

I wasn’t skinny but I wasn’t so overweight any more either.

Then my husband began to drink and use drugs. Domestic violence is a HORRIBLE thing and no one should have to live like that.

During this time I lost weight again. A LOT of weight and though I wasn’t skinny I was at a pretty much normal weight again for the first time in a long time but what a way to do it?!

My husband refused to admit that he had a problem and get help. I refused for Josh and I to live like that and despite all of the death threats and the fear that he actually WOULD kill us, I divorced him.

Being a single Mom is not what I had planned for in my life but we have gotten through and living as a single parent is much preferable to having the person that professed to love us refuse us food, medical care and threatening to kill us.

Luckily Josh was little but what memories he has of his father are not good ones but he is a happy, well adjusted person now and I have done my best to be both Mother and Father to him. I have also tried to put positive male role models in his life. NO NOT by dating! Make relatives and friends of the family.

Anyway, so I went through a period of time where I was of a normal weight and then…. my Mom died. My Mother was both Mother and Father to me as my Dad died in a car accident when I was a baby. I never felt that I missed out as she was always there and we were close. Mom was not only my Mother but my best friend. Losing her was one of the worst times of my life.

I became depressed. But I knew that I needed to be here for Josh and so I pushed through. I also started to eat more to shove down those emotions.

I gained weight.

Thus began a period of 10 years of losing loved one after loved one. I cannot tell you how many people we have lost in the last 10 years due to cancer, old age and accidents because to sit here and think about it would be just too depressing.

We are still dealing with the lose and pain of finding our cousin dead in a pool of blood. She had fallen down her basement stairs and hot her head on the cement floor at the bottom.

To find her like that and to lose not only our cousin but one of our best friends AND my job all at once was another one of the worst times in my life. I have gone through a LOT of bad things in my life and yet I keep going- without using alcohol or drugs as they don’t help your problems they just make things worse

From all of the stress and just the toll of living my life and pollutions and such- I ended up with 2 lung diseases and other health problems/

With all of my health problems- my back, my knees, my hands, my lungs and more- I couldn’t do all of the things that I used to do. There have been times that I could barely move.

There was another problem. Eating to shove down emotions and yet unable to move enough to burn even a portion of those calories.

I got to the heaviest weight I have even been in my life. I quit getting on the scales a long time ago because I didn’t like what I saw.

Then last year I discovered a combination of 2 things that had me losing weight so easily that I didn’t even realize that I was. I was just concentrating on getting healthy.

By the time my weight loss was brought to my attention my clothes literally hung on me. My son tells me they look like clown clothes on me.

After several months of using my method I quit it order to test it to see if I would have lasting results, or if like so many other weight loss methods the weight would come right back.

It has been over 6 months and the weight seems to be staying off.

I know now that if I would start to gain the weight back I can just use my method again.

I want to lose some more weight but for the sake of testing my method I am waiting a while longer.

But, for the first time in a long time I do not worry about my weight. I concentrate on making a better life for Josh and I and on us just being the healthiest that we can- which is why we are busy trying to enlarge our garden to try to grow most of our own food, We have chickens and are thinking of raising rabbits, turkeys and maybe some mini cattle as well as anything else that will help us to be more self sufficient.

We want to put a house roof over our trailer as it keeps wanting to leak and we have used roof coating but we have a couple of cats that like to get up there and when they do it sounds like a herd of cattle. All of that weight makes the metal buckle and get cracks. Also, I have to go up every winter and shovel snow off and with my health I will not be able to do that for too much more.

We would also like to have a greenhouse to grow food year round and a storm shelter/root cellar to store food in and to go in case of a storm as you know that trailers are not a good place to be during storms.

Anyway, sorry about getting of track there. My point was that we all tend to believe that we should be model thin. That’s not true nor is it healthy.

We should all strive to find a weight that is healthy for us and then just concern ourselves more with eating healthy and BEING healthy instead of wanting our cheek bones to stick out and to be so thin that we disappear when we turn sideways.

Calling Jillian fat is simply the mentality that so many are in anymore. We think that anyone that weighs more than the models do is overweight or ‘fat’

That’s not true and it isn’t right.

Let’s all worry more about our own business, being healthy and helping our fellow human beings.

To the person that called Jillian ‘fat’? You need to work on your image of what a woman should look like. If you think that Jillian is overweight then you have some issues you need to deal with.

You may be thin now but one day you might not be. One day you may not have your looks, your youth, health or your hair. When that happens I am sure that there will be someone just like you are now that will be quick to point it out and at that time maybe you will realize how many people you have hurt by your harsh words and inappropriate attitude toward women

You also do not know what got them overweight in the first place. It may be health reasons or some emotional one. I do not believe that most people that are overweight got there just because of laziness.

So before you put someone down because of their weight you might want to think about what got them there and how easy it might be for YOU to be where they are.

‘But for the grace of God go I’

Well, that’s enough of my rant for today :0)lol

Let us know what you think by leaving comments ( hopefully nice) and we would appreciate it is you would share our site with others so that we may grow and be able to help as many people as possible to lose weight and get healthy in addition to sharing our thoughts about the Biggest Loser - our favorite tv show :0))

5 Fat Burning Foods….

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Okay, earlier I promised you that I would try to list 5 of the top fat burning foods and here they are.

But first I would like to say that if you are trying to lose weight filling up on fat burning foods is a great idea but you don’t have to just stick with eating fat burning foods all of the time. You can eat pretty much any food and still be able to lose weight. The key is moderation.

Individually wrapped sweets can be a good way to practice portion control. You know what I mean- the bags of little candy bars like you give out at Halloween?

As long as you make sure not to eat the whole bag and can stop at just 1 or 2 you are ok.

Maybe a way to help with this would be to keep the bag in the freezer and only take out 1 or 2 to thaw as your treat for a day or two.

Something else that might help would be to set a simple rule. When you want to have a treat you should always try to make sure that you have had a good healthy meal first. Treats are just that a TREAT they are not a meal.

Before actually having your treat you might want to always have a glass of water and make yourself wait something like 10-15 minutes.

This way you have the opportunity to see if you REALLY want the treat or if you were just thirsty.

If you simply follow these 3 rules it can help keep you from gobbling them down and not even being able to taste them.

In this way you can actually enjoy them guilt free. A simple treat once in a while is fine. So don’t beat yourself up over it.

When you deprive yourself until you can’t stand it then you are much more likely to binge on them and possibly eat thousands of calories.

You might also want to keep on hand other ‘treats’ like fruits and vegetable that are ready for snacking instead of fatty, unhealthy foods like potato chips and other fried salty snacks.

Having bags or containers of fruits and vegetables all cleaned, peeled and sliced makes them handy for grabbing when you want a snack.

Anyway, so here are the fat burning foods that I promised you.

Now remember, these are just 5 of the list of many fat burning foods that I will be listing in my ebook once it goes to the paid full version. I am giving you these 5 fat burning foods as well as complete information on exactly HOW I lost weight without dieting or exercise. If you hurry right now you can get started losing weight today without having to pay anything at all for the information.

The only reason that the e-book will be going to a paid version is simply because as a single mother I gave got to be able to pay the bills. I am sure you can understand that right?

So, grab your copy now for free just for being early bird visitors to My Biggest Loser Blog,

Here are the 5 fat burning foods:

Apples

Watermelon

Cucumbers

Radishes

Pineapple

Oh heck, here’s a couple extra free fat burning foods for you :0)

Celery

Spinach

Now, in order for these to stay Fat Burning Foods you need to eat them as close to their natural state as possible.

Raw is best as the enzymes in them will help your body to digest your foods better and assimilate the nutrition better.

You can steam or boil but the most important thing is to watch what you put ON them. Forget the salt shaker. Try to learn to enjoy the natural flavor of your food. Or, if you need to add something then try herbs and spices.

Don’t smother them in butter or other high calorie condiments

A simple low fat vanilla yogurt with fresh fruit can be a tasty treat while also helping your body to burn fat.

Try eating some raw fruits or vegetables each day. This is especially important as you get older because as we age our body’s enzyme stores aren’t as strong. We need raw natural enzymes to help to properly digest foods.

When foods are properly digested they don’t stagnate in our colon and become breeding grounds for bacteria and parasites. They don’t stick like glue to our colon walls and cause other foods to stick to them too building a thick sludge that makes it impossible for our body to get the nutrition from the food we eat and causing us to gain weight.

Did you know that Elvis, and other people who have passed on, have had as much as 50 pounds (or more) of garbage in their colon? That all shows up as extra weight on your scales every time that you get weighed.

Besides being unhealthy, I think that the thought of having food that you ate years ago still lying there inside your body is pretty disgusting. You should always be eliminating approximately the same amount as what you are eating each day.

I read once that it is important to eat raw foods daily. Now you know why. Raw foods will help keep your body’s digestive system running more smoothly

Learning to love these fat burning foods raw is not as hard as you might think.

Example: When I was a child I have fond memories of my Mom making corn on the cob. I remember the steaming hot corn all slippery with lots of melted butter and sprinkling lots of salt all over it just like my Mom did. I remember the warm tangy corn and the fabulous flavors dancing on my tongue.

Ok, are you hungry for corn on the cob now? :0)lol

Now, my son and I - once in a blue moon-do have our corn with a bit of butter on it but for the most part we have found that we enjoy the naturally sweet flavor of corn on the cob raw. Not right out of the refrigerator cold -just room temp.

Matter of fact we just had some today. We had our chickens out running around the yard and we were outside having some fresh raw corn on the cob. As we would drop a kernel the chickens would run over and squabble over the kernels.

When we would finish a section we would break it off from the rest of the cob- making sure to leave a few kernels on it and would toss it to the chickens.

Now, if you enjoy nature at all you would love to see the hilarious site of those chickens running after the corn cob. One would grab it and try carrying this big piece of corn in their beak while running with all of the others chasing them trying to get it away.

Doesn’t matter how many pieces you toss down they always do the same thing and it is just as cute and funny to watch the first time as it is the 21st.

We have more corn and if the weather cooperates maybe we will try to video tape some of this hilarity for you all to enjoy too.

Anyway, sorry for wandering off like that. My point was that even though I was brought up to like eating my corn on the cob in a basically unhealthy way (though we didn’t know that back then) I taught my son to like eating it the same exact way and yet we both now love eating our corn on the cob raw just as much (if not more) than eating it the fattening, unhealthy way.

Talk about fast food?

All you need to do is peel off the husk, remove the silks and you are ready to eat some sweet and delicious food within seconds. So, even if you think that you could NEVER like eating raw natural foods without all of that butter, salt and calories you should think again and give it a try.

The smaller kernels are sweeter. Big kernels are usually tougher and not as flavorful.

BTW, when we DO cook our corn on the cob we like to leave it in the husk and toss it in the microwave for a couple of minutes per each ear of corn. We can cook several ears of corn at a time this way and it is quick and easy. It steams the corn so it is really moist and delicious and so EASY to make.

Another way is to leave it in the husk and put it on the grill to cook through

Another example? Strawberries are on sale this week. My son and I got some and we just enjoy snacking on them in the evening just plain. We enjoy their naturally sweet goodness without adding anything. They are DELICIOUS!!!

Now, the guy that I work for likes strawberries too. BUT, he has to have them covered with splenda. I don’t mean a light sprinkle on top I am talking about COVERED with it all over through the whole bowl.

Course this man also has me put spoonful after spoonful of Splenda into pretty much everything- including spanish rice, goulash, etc. I don’t know about you but when I have a dish with meat in it I don’t want it to taste disgustingly sweet. I save sweet taste for my treats.

So, which way do you think is healthier? Enjoying the fresh natural taste of strawberries and other foods or throwing on tons of sugar, splenda, salt, butter, etc.?

Hey, I like to put condiments on food too but I try to enjoy the natural flavors of foods as much as possible because most condiments have calories and some have a LOT of calories. By eating less condiments you can enjoy a LOT more food each day for the same amount of calories

Later! :0)

Ice Cream Sandwich Torture and burning zillions of calories

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Hey everyone- isn’t it a beautiful day out today? I am posting here and then I am heading outside to enjoy the sun, great weather and fresh air.

Course it won’t be for fun and games. There is lots of yard work and gardening to get done right now but I try to see the positive side of it all. Lots of fresh air and moving around (ie: exercise) will help me to burn off all the calories I had last night.

Was someone trying to tell me something or what? I decided that since it was hot out that it had been a long time since we had had ice cream and it sounded good.

So, we get a box of ice cream sandwiches. My son and I each have one while in the parking lot of the grocery store as it is so hot out and something cold sounds so refreshing. We figure on having the rest in the freezer to enjoy over the coming weeks of hot weather.

Little did we know that disaster was about to strike :0(

So, we get home and go to put away the ice cream sandwiches and discover, to our horror, that the freezer has quit working.

Now, this is awful as we had the chest freezer nearly

full in our efforts of stocking up for emergencies.

All of our meats, fruits, vegetables, etc. have thawed and spoiled as from the smell when we opened the door of the freezer the dang thing quit a couple of days ago- probably right after we got in there the other day.

So, not only do we have literally hundreds of dollars worth of food spoiled that we REALLY could not afford to lose- BUT we have this whole box of ice cream sandwiches that are getting softer by the minute. It’s too late to call friends and have them over so what’s a girl to do?

Yep, you guessed it- we ate the WHOLE BOX OF ICE CREAM SANDWICHES!!!

Now for someone who recently lost a lot of weight this could be a disaster as big, or bigger, than losing hundreds of dollars worth of food.

But, in my effort to try to look at the positive side of things (though I STILL haven’t seen the positive side of losing all of that food we had stocked up on) I must say that eating that many ice cream sandwiches has definitely changed the way that I feel about ice cream sandwiches.

Right now I am not sure if I will EVER enjoy eating one of them again. So, maybe that will stop me from buying them for a long time. If that doesn’t- not having a working freezer should.

So, I am now in the market for a low cost, used, freezer that runs GOOD- if you live in the thumb of Michigan and have one then please let me know.

I have also decided that maybe we will stick more with dehydrating and canning from now on. STILL, a freezer is nice for some foods and for things like ice, ice cream ice cream sandwiches….. just kidding :0)lol

Anyway, with all of the yard work that needs to be done I am not even going to worry about gaining weight from that binge last night.

I will drink LOTS of water and eat some fresh veggies.

Just a reminder: you can get my free e-book about how to easily lose weight- just look below for all of the details.

BTW, a word of advice ALWAYS make sure that your freezer is working before buying ice cream

Now I am off to try to burn a zillion calories :0)lol

Why do some Biggest Loser contestants gain the weight back while others don’t?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

I just read a post on another blog about the Biggest Loser. This person thinks that Biggest Loser is flawed in the way that they help people to lose weight. They believe that all former Biggest Loser contestants gain the weight back.
I KNOW differently. You see, I am in touch with many of the former contestants of Biggest Loser and I have to say that all of the former Biggest Loser contestants that I am in contact with are maintaining their weight loss.
Sure, some are having a bit more of a struggle than others but I think that some of those are people that weren’t on the Biggest Loser as long. Maybe they didn’t learn as much about how to lose the wieght and keep it off, maybe they didn’t deal with the reason why they gained the weight in the first place.
I understand that there ARE some former Biggest Loser contestants that have gained back the weight that they lost while on the show but I think that I know why that is the case- at least for some of them.
In more recent season’s of the Biggest Loser tv show we have seen that game play has become more of an issue.
Why is this?
Simply because for many of these Biggest Loser contestants that are more concerned with the game play aspect of Biggest Loser are the very people that are on the Biggest Loser tv show more for the money and the fame that can come with being a contestant.
Now, I am not saying that this is the case with ALL contestants that are involved in game play but I think that for many it is true.
I can also see that when certain people that were on Biggest Loser are there more for fame and fortune that they do not take the time to deal with the issues of why they gained all of that weight in the first place.
They do not learn the lessons of nutrition, exercise and feeding the body for energy and health rather than using the food for entertainment and stuffing down the emotions that are the reason that they got fat in the first place.
The Biggest Loser contestants that dealt with the issues that made them gain the weight are the ones that are much more likely to keep that weight off rather than to gain it back.
Maybe that might not be the case with every Biggest Loser contestant but I would say that it would cover a good percentage of former Biggest Loser contestants.
How can you manage to keep the weight off when you go right back to eating the same way and the same unhealthy food choices?
How can you keep the weight off when you haven’t dealt with the underlying reason that made you gain the weight in the first place?
How can you keep the weight off if you haven’t changed the way that you feel about food and it’s role in your life?
I say that for people that want to be on the Biggest Loser tv show just to try to win the money then they should go on a game show. Want fame and fortune? Can you sing? Dance? Have some other talent? Go on America’s Got Talent or some other reality tv show that is for becoming famous rather than one that is about losing weight.
Now, if you REALLY want to lose weight and just hope for some fame and fortune as a by product of that weight loss then that is fine as long as you can keep your mind focused on the reason you are there at the Biggest Loser ranch- to Lose Weight!
Concern yourself with rethinking how you feel about food, dealing with emotional issues that got you where you are, learn how to eat healthy and how to exercise properly so that you have the tools that you will need to lose the weight and keep it off.
But don’t go on the Biggest Loser tv show specifically for the express purpose of gaining fame and fortune from stabbing your fellow contestanst in the back and then whine later about how you went on the Biggest Loser tv show and you gained all of the weight back so it is THEIR fault not YOURS!
Did they put a gun to your head and force you to eat fatty, unhealthy foods while sitting on your butt watching tv or playing video games?
Biggest Loser is here to help people to lose weight, and they ARE doing that all over the world, but they are NOT going to be by your side day by day for the rest of your life to stop you from going back to the very habits that made you gain the weight.
It is YOUR responsibility to learn WHY you gained the weight and deal with those issues if you Honestly want to keep the weight off.
It is not easy. But losing all of that weight isn’t easy. Why go to all of that trouble if you are not wiling to change the way that you think and feel about food and WHY you gained all of that weight in the first pace?
Well that’s my rant for now :0)lol Listen, my new website is so much differnt that my My Biggest Loser Blog that I had over on Blogger. I am still learning about where everything is and how to use it. I was able to get a poll app installed and I even managed to get a few polls going but now I cannot find them!?
I thought that they would be on the side of the page but they aren’t there.
Does anyone know about wordpress blogs, the poll apps and where I can find my polls?
Help!???

One hour to go….

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

One hour to go….

Yes, there is but 1 hour to go until tonight’s Biggest Loser tv show is on and boy do I need my Biggest Loser fix today! :0)
Every week I watch Biggest Loser. That is MY time for me. It is the only time that I really take for myself all week but when Biggest Loser comes on I am all about watching the show and don’t even think about talking unless it is life or death.
Watching Biggest Loser makes me happy and relaxes me- well, other than all of the screaming and jumping up and down I tend to do during the weigh ins :0)lol But then at least I AM getting exercise in while I watch the show.
Anyway, there is only an hour left until tonight’s Biggest Loser show and I cannot wait! I had an extremely bad day at work today and have been so stressed out because of my boss. I am trying to let go of all of that stress and I am surer that when Biggest Loser comes on I will forget all about my boss screaming and swearing at me today for not answering the phone when answering the phone isn’t even part of my job and it only rang a couple of rings (one time) while I was in the middle of doing what IS part of my job.
I have only worked for this man for about 6 weeks and it feels like at least 6 YEARS!
Anyway, back to tonight’s Biggest Loser show - tonight we will find out who will be in the final three…..
or WILL we?
I am wondering if they will make us wait until the finale? Or have America vote again?
It is hard to tell when you are talking about Biggest Loser but then again that is all part of the wonder of it. The joy, the tears, the struggle, the drama, the suspence…
Biggest Loser has it all and, like a junkie craving their drug when life becomes difficult, I REALLY need my Biggest Loser fix tonight.
Two hours of thinking of nothing but Mike, Ron, Tara and Helen and wondering WHO will be in the finale? Who will be sent home?
What will be tonight’s challenge?
Everyone went home at the end of last week’s Biggest Loser episode. How well did they all do at home? Did they all lose weight? How much?
I a, also starting to think ahead to the Biggest Loser finale. Most of the contestants that were sent home seemed to have been doing well but I am wondering if they have all stuck with it? Who will win the $250,000? and who will win the Biggest Loser home prize of the $100,000.
They all seemed to have lost HUGE amounts of weight this season- over 1500 POUNDS! WOW!!! And no matter who wins the money I think that it is great that they have lost so much weight and learned all about getting healthy.
I have loved Biggest Loser through thick and through thin (small joke :0)lol) but to see how much they have helped these people this season that were heavier than any other contestants is fantastic. To see that so many of these people have now gone on and are passing on their new found knowledge to others to give others the opportunity to lose the weight just like they have is wonderful.
To see Ron, who has been overweight his whole life and has tried EVERYTHING (including surgery) finally lose weight and weigh now what he weighed back when he was a teenager is AMAZING! This show and people like this give hope to so many that may otherwise just give up.
To people that are overweight food is like a drug. It is unfair that so many people are mistreated simply because they are overweight. I feel that the Biggest Loser tv show is not only helping people to be able to lose weight but maybe it is also helping to teach people that aren’t overweight that they should be more understanding. It could just as easily be them in the size 26.
When I was a child I was a bit overweight. Not a lot but it was called ‘baby fat’ back then. As a teen I lost my ‘baby fat’ and was very thin-at one point I was nearly anorexic. I was eating 2 slices of bread, 1 slice of lunchmeat and lots of dill pickles every day and that was ALL that I ate for the entire day. I had found out that dill pickles had only 5 calories each so I filled up on them. Now I can barely look at a dill pickle :0)
Then, I went through domestic violence, a divorce, losing my Mom. My weight has gone from one extreme to the other.
Right now I am in a 14/16 after having used the methods I tell about in my free report which you can get by looking through my archives. Last year I was a size 26 or 28.
My weight has been a life long roller coaster for me. I love food. I have had a lot of very HARD times in my life. Times that some people would have just given up. I used food to comfort me through those hard times and to celebrate the joys.
I am doing pretty well at keeping my weight down and I may try to lose more weight at some point but right now I am still testing my weight loss yo see if it stays off without working at it. So far so good and it has been 6 months
I have also tried to switch my habit from being addicted to food to being addicted to Biggest Loser. So far I am REALLY addicted to the Biggest Loser tv show and have done well at keeping my food addiction under control.
Listen, my report is free so if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off? Grab my free report and give this a try. It has worked for me- no diet, no exercise and I haven’t even used my ‘method’ for around 6 months and have done well about not gaining the weight back.
Well, 10 minutes and Biggest Loser will be on.
I need to finish up here so that I won’t miss a single solitary second of it ;0)lol
I won’t be able to blog after the show about tonight’s Biggest Loser show as I have to get up extra early for work tomorrow. But, I will try to post tomorrow after I get home.
